"Big Brothers / Big Sisters" is an organization that would like to show young kids that they can have the ability to succeed. What they do is get a person that is over 18, then they assign them to a younger child through the ages of 6-18. You can do anything you want with them, play sports, help them with school, pretty much anything that will make them happy.
"Big Brothers / Big Sisters" was founded in 1907 in America. From there, the "Big Brothers / Big Sisters" organization grew larger and spread all around the world. They have been helping children for over 100 years already, and they have proved that what they do really does work.
5 things that prove that "Big Brothers / Big Sisters" is helpful to others (children) would be:
- " more confident in their schoolwork performance" - What they mean by this would be that instead of them being scared to join in on what the teacher has planned, they would feel more confident and join in.
- "able to get along better with their families" - What they mean by this would be how usually they would probably sneak out or ignore their parents but now, with the Big Brothers / Big Sisters Organization, they show how important a family is.
- "46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs" - With Big Brothers / Big Sisters, they tell them that drugs aren't good for your health and can kill you.
- "27% less likely to begin using alcohol" - The Big Brother or Big SIister would tell all the kids that alcohol is bad, and that it can ruin their health.
- "52% less likely to skip school. " - and lastly, they tell the, that education is very important to have.
I would say "Big Brothers / Big Sisters" is a very good organization, they show a lot of kids that they can do anything as long as the try and believe. They also show kids that drugs, and skipping school are not good, and that education is very important.
